What Does It Mean to Be in Our Feminine Power?

In a nutshell, being in our feminine power is the capacity to embody the unique energy that lives in us, and allowing ourselves to be guided by the truths it reveals.

It holds a couple of steps, let me lay it out simply.

Being in Your Body - The first Step to Be in Your Feminine Power

We are all blessed with a particular flavor of feminine energy. Some people are more vibrant, like a bright sun, or quiet like a calm lake. This energy is a gift that we are all given.

Now, the challenge is to be able to connect with it. It can be tricky when our attention lives very much in our head. For some of us, we can drop our attention into our body only for a few seconds before the mind gets busy again with various thoughts.

In order to feel this energy, we are invited to quiet our mind, and bring our attention into our body - into the sensations in our body.

When we can notice a slight vibration, a warmth, a tension or any other sensation, it means we are in our body.

Now, that experience is not always comfortable. Sometimes what jumps to our attention at first are all the things that we have ignored such as tightness in the body or simply feeling hungry.

Often, we brush off this connection to our body, simply because it’s easier not to. We ignore it, until it gets loud enough for us to hear.

Being in our body is not just something that happens, it is a deep practice of relating to ourselves in a very committed way. It is like saying to ourselves : ‘‘Yes, I want to know what you are experiencing, yes, I want to stay connected’’.

From a Somatic perspective, being in our body is also a profound invitation to feel our own emotions, our wounds. It is all about being with our experience.

Often, this is also something we might want to brush off because, well, it can be uncomfortable. For some of us, it may even feel dangerous or scary to fully feel our experiences.

Being disconnected from our body can be a protection mechanism that we operate when we have gone through moments in our life where feeling would have felt way too intense, and instinctively, our body protects us from feeling.

Unfortunately, when left unchecked, it can also cut us off from feeling our feminine power, experiencing deep emotions such as joy, fulfillment and connection with others.

So, the first step here is to be in your body, feel sensations as best you can. Land in your experience in this moment.

Being Guided by Your Feminine Power

When we think about power, we often think about a toxic version of power. One where someone has power over someone. They force, direct or decide for that person. Having power can also be seen with a very egoic perspective in terms of how much resources or status someone has.

How I define feminine power is none of those things. To me feminine power is equivalent to truth, intuition and inner wisdom.

To connect with it, you are invited to be in your body, feeling sensations that are present.

When you are comfortably dropped in, you can invite this gentle movement of vibrancy, lifeforce energy to be felt. It is the very energy that has you be alive right now. It is the energy of life moving through you.

It may have a particular frequency such as a peaceful calm, a vibrant warmth, an expansive grounded feeling. It is a little bit different for everyone.

If you have a challenging time connecting to your frequency, you can tap into a sense of grounded calm, an inner peace.

Allow yourself to experience that energy in your body. Allow it to be nourishing, as if every cell of your being was filled up with that energy.

When you can experience this energy in your body, you are connected to your feminine power. What makes it powerful is your capacity to listen to that energy.

Open yourself up to hear what wisdom it holds for you. You may begin by simply listening to anything true it wants you to know.

This power in you only speaks the language of kindness; it is very loving. So if you find yourself hearing a voice of judgement or beating yourself up, just know that it is coming from your mind, not your power.

Allow yourself to listen deeply. It is okay if nothing comes up, this is a relationship that grows the more you cultivate it.

When you can hear its voice of wisdom, my advice is to follow it to the best of your capacity. Your power knows things that the mind cannot understand or comprehend.

It is your access to the deepest wisdom for you. It may not always guide you in the direction of your preferences, or what you think you should do.

It does something much better than that - it guides you towards what is most true for you.
